Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED: OCTOBER 5, 2026

The short version

Pinch is a recipe app. We collect the minimum we need to run it: an account (via Sign in with Apple or Google), the recipes you add, and the photos, links or text you give us so we can read a recipe out of them. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.

Collecting and using Your Personal Data

Personal Data

  • Email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be a private relay address)
  • Display name, if You choose to share it
  • A unique account identifier from the provider

Recipe content

To do its job, Pinch processes the content You give it: photos of recipes, pasted web links and text, and recipes You type in. This content is sent to Our servers and to Service Providers (including an automated language-model service) so it can be read into a structured recipe. We only use it to provide the Service to You.

Purchases

If You buy scan credits, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google. We receive a record of the purchase (what was bought and when) so We can add the credits to Your Account. We never see Your payment card details.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically and may include Your Device's IP address, device type and operating system, unique device identifiers, the features You use, the time and date of use, crash reports and other diagnostic data.

Information collected while using the Application

With Your prior permission, We may collect pictures from Your Device's camera and photo library when You choose to scan a recipe. You can enable or disable this access at any time through Your Device settings.

The Company retains Your Personal Data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out here, and to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements.

  • Account information, recipes and uploaded photos: until You delete the recipe or Your Account. Deleting Your Account removes them immediately.

  • Purchase records: Our purchase provider keeps a record of past purchases, linked to an anonymous identifier rather than Your name or email.
  • Support correspondence: up to 24 months from ticket closure.
  • Usage Data, crash reports and server logs: up to 24 months for security monitoring, troubleshooting and service improvement.

We may retain data beyond these periods where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, or where it exists in backups scheduled for routine deletion. When retention periods expire, We securely delete or anonymise the data.
